Campus Day 2017

Looking back at Campus Day 2017:

Once again Campus Day was a success. The successful cooperation of the faculties MLS, MME and the student organization Business Talks made a 6th consecutive Campus Day possible. This year’s motto being “the real stories behind business”, it all started with a welcome evening on Tuesday evening with an interesting presentation from Thomas Ehrl from ThyssenKrupp elevator and many speeches. One of them in which students were compared to James Bond in the sense that they are not haunting criminals but rather the right job. Even though on Wednesday, the actual Campus Day, we had snow in Schwenningen many students came to talk to companies and listen to workshops. The English workshops organized by Business Talks were without exception well-attended. Starting off in the morning with a former graduate now working for PwC, Jascha Schlimm, he put the already acquired knowledge about risk management into a real-life context. At the same time, Christiane Franke from HP Enterprise gave an insight into big scale change management. After a short break a workshop about expectation management – what career entrants can really expect took place. Especially a valuable topic for students. Meanwhile four women and one man were having a panel discussion about “women at work – levelling the playing field for women in business” with Pia Speck, Sandra Klafky-Winter, Gerlinde Weiglein, Roxana Hughes and Dr. Johannes K. Mühl as the only male. This was a stunning experience. For the first time moderated by a Business Talks member, Marleen Dibon, the panelists shared very personal insights and gave practical advices e.g. the concept of managing your family as an economic unit or going full speed at your career before you start a family. The last slot of lectures was filled by two future-oriented presentations. On the one hand Nico Sopp from GlobalFlow GmbH talking about resource scarcity and new business opportunities resulting from that, on the other hand Christoph Kayser from TLGG GmbH in Berlin, one of the hidden champions of digit(al)ization. He shared the real stories about the organization and leadership of companies transforming from production to system-based ones. Finally, the highlight of the day – the HFU STAR panel with Aelxandra Rombach, Julia Popsa, Dr. Johannes K. Mühl, Marc Bastian-Brezinka and Philipp Harder. 90 minutes of panel discussion moderated by a Business Talks member, Facundo Gonzalez, with five HFU Business School graduates. They all had international experience and were in business for several years. They answered all questions, reflected upon their time at HFU and gave valuable hints for our careers. To finish off the day a tombola was organized. Lucky students took online vouchers and even a skydive home.

Looking forward to next year’s Campus Day together with you
